What People are experiencing

Hear what it feels like to be part of Dance Where You Are

If Carl can make me feel like I have an ounce of rhythm, he can teach anyone. Go! Check out his Saturday morning hip hop class at The Dance Complex. You won’t be sorry!

Jackie Gonzalez

DWYA is a fantastic studio. The teachers are wonderfully encouraging to dancers of all abilities and ages; the classes are just incredibly fun. On top of that, they're smart and excellent teachers--they really think about how to break down movements and help you become a better dancer.

Amy Miller Caldwell

Carl is the real deal. He's committed to creating a space where everyone can enjoy dance, and his teaching is based on decades of knowledge and experience.

Not at all! Our classes are designed for absolute beginners. We focus on having fun, learning at your own pace, and building confidence through simple, easy-to-follow moves.

What should I wear to class?

Wear something comfortable that lets you move freely, like clean-soled sneakers, workout clothes, or anything you’d wear to a fun social event. No special shoes or outfits required!

What kind of music do you play?

We dance to a mix of upbeat tracks from different eras—Hip Hop, R&B, House, Soul Train classics, and modern hits. Every playlist is designed to keep you moving and smiling.

Will I be able to keep up if I’ve never danced before?

Yes! Every move is broken down step-by-step, and the vibe is supportive and welcoming. You’ll be surprised how quickly you start feeling the rhythm and flow.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Dancing is always more fun with friends. Bring someone along and make it a mini dance party—you’ll both have a blast!

Can I try a class for free?

While we don’t offer free in-person classes, you can check out what we do through our class videos and free online tutorials. The Benefits of Social Dance.

Dancing isn’t just about movement—it’s about transformation. It gives you a chance to blow off steam, connect with amazing people, and build a supportive community that feels like family. It challenges your body and your brain, helping you stay sharp, focused, and creative. Through movement, you learn to problem-solve, grow in confidence, and quiet that negative self-talk that tries to hold you back. Every step becomes an opportunity to express yourself, release stress, and rediscover your joy.
